The person behind this blog

Hi. I’m Mel. I love to cook. I’ve lived in Mexico, the US, Italy, and Barcelona — and in every place, food has been how I feel at home.

I also spent most of my life losing the same 15 pounds. Over and over. Like a toxic ex that kept texting. Four years ago, my doctor said two words: insulin resistance. And I knew one thing immediately: I wasn’t going to live on restriction.

So I started swapping. One ingredient at a time. This blog is what I learned. I’m not a doctor or a nutritionist — I’m someone who finally stopped quitting, because swapping is a plan I can actually keep.

“I didn’t start this blog because I cracked the code. I started it because I was tired of plans that required me to become a different person. I’m the same person. I just swapped the sugar.”
